FABRICATION OF PHOTONIC STRUCTURES |
 |
 |
PURPOSE
Photonic microstructures enables to control propagation of light and produce effects that are impossible with
conventional optics. Amazing facilities provide one type of the photonic structures – antireflection microstructures
that forbid propagation of a certain frequency range of light.
PROPERTIES
Photonic antireflection microstructures few times decrease transmittance of the light in the visible or infrared
spectrum range irrespective of the angle of the incident light. Location of AR band can be changed with periodicity,
deepness and the shape of the structures.
APPLICATION
Photonic microstructures have a potential of application in the design of novel optoelectronic devices:
thresholdless lasers, single-mode light emitting diodes, waveguides in the optical domain filters, polarizers,
planar antenna substrates. Antireflection microstructures ensure excellent antireflection properties of the
flat panel displays, night vision devices etc. Fabricated photonic microstructures can be easily replicated
into large area polymer film without big changes of the optical properties.
THE LEVEL OF TECHNOLOGY COMPLETION
Fabrication of the defined optical parameters photonic microstructures in the silicon substrate and replication of them into large area polymer film.
POSSIBLE CO-OPERATION
Development of the new ways for the fabrication and industrial application of the photonic microstructures: nanoimprint litography,
laser interference litography and reactive ion etching, hot embossing into polymer films.
